13 - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I find out my PIN?
You may obtain your PIN by contacting library staff (in person, via the phone or via the PIN application form on the website).

Why is it called iBistro?
iBistro is the name given by SirsiDynix to the web catalogue. We are unaware of the origin of the name.

Can I place holds on other consortium library books?
You can place holds on items from other libraries in the consortium via the web catalogue.

Is there a hold charge?
There is no charge for placing holds for our members on Eastern Regional Libraries items or items available through Interlibrary loan from public libraries. If we have to obtain an Interlibrary loan from a university or other paying library then there is a $15 hold charge, payable at the time of the request.

If I am going away can you make sure my holds don't come until I get back?
We can suspend holds while you are away. Just advise staff of the dates you want them suspended

Can I get my hold/overdue notices via email or SMS?
We currently have email notification of holds and overdues. If you supply library staff with your email address they can add this to your library record and set your record up for email notification. You will need to provide a valid email address. We currently don’t offer SMS notification of holds/overdues.

I've changed my address. Do I need to let you know?
We need to know about any address change so that we can send you hold and overdue notices etc. You can login to the catalogue, click on My Account and click on Change My Address. Do this also if you need to change your email address. This is not automated, please wait a few days for staff to update your record.

When will I be emailed about new books by my favourite authors (I have marked them as favourites in the catalogue)?
The Favorites report is run weekly on a Thursday morning. If you have set up your record to have lists of new titles by your Favorite Author of Subject emailed to you you will receive an email once we have added titles that relate.

Can I pay my overdue charges online?
At present you cannot pay your overdues online, however this is a service we are investigating for the future.

Can I see the items borrowed from other consortium libraries in My Account?
Yes you can. They will display in your account with the other items on your card.
