Montrose Gardeners presents ...The Art of Bonsai , with Victor Byrdy

"Bonsai" is the art of growing trees in small pots. Bonsai had its origins about two millennia ago in China, moving to Japan about 1000 years ago, and eventually becoming a very popular art form world-wide.

As an art form, Bonsai combines horticultural skill, artistic style, and patience, to create "living sculptures".

Victor Byrdy, a member of the Yarra Valley Bonsai Society, is an experienced and passionate Bonsai enthusiast, who delights in sharing his love for Bonsai. As an active member of a number of Melbourne Bonsai clubs, he has taught, demonstrated and encouraged the development of the art of Bonsai. Victor is also a founding director on the Committee of Management for the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection in Canberra.

Victor will demonstrate how to create, care for and maintain a Bonsai tree, illustrated with a display of various types and styles of Bonsai.

Bring along your own Bonsai plant to show or receive advice on its care.

Yarra Valley Bonsai Society is a friendly, enthusiatic and welcoming club that provides lessons, demonstrations, workshops, outings, and encouragement for all members, to develop their interest in Bonsai.
