What factors into your selection criteria when choosing books for your bookclub?

| Choosing a book using the on-line search facility is quite time consuming. At present I, as the group facilitator, tend to scroll down until I find something "on the shelf", and hope for the best. Members request titles or specific authors, but they are often popular with other groups too. |

Hi Jayay0,
Welcome to the forum!
Have you used the quick link for Bookclub books in Find it Fast yet?
1. Go to the catalogue.
2. Click on Find it Fast at the top.
3. Click on the link for Bookclub collection.
The listed is sorted according to the publishing date. Most recent first. Unfortunately we can't sort the results another way if the results are over 200 (there are 363).
One thing I might be able to do is create another Find it Fast button for "Bookclub books - available" and set it up so it only shows the books that are on shelf. That could shorten the list and then I could sort this by author.
What does everyone think?

Hi Webgurl.
Thanks for the tips.
The feature that would allow to "see" what is on shelf would be FANTASTIC!! Please add this one in. |

Cool! I'll put it down on my list of things to do next week. I get to work on the catalogue on Wednesday afternoons. I'll let you all know when I've finished the "Find it Fast Bookclub available button" and it's working.

Hey Webgurl,
Did you get any further with the idea of a special button to show on shelf books? I would really love that. _________________ Jay |

Oops, I forgot to look into that. So sorry
I'm making a few changes to the catalogue at the moment - font size and colour so I'll take a look.

I am a part of two Bookgroups... an informal one started by a group of Mums & Friends and a more formally run BG through a Community House.
The Informal Group lets each member take turns choosing, once a month. What they choose is their discretion - any genre, any length, any author etc.
The Formal Group pays FTG Library a fee and the Library chooses the book each month.
Both have their pros and cons. I have to say - I prefer the informal group but in terms of availability of books the formalised group is better. _________________ "Remember: Y'all is singular. All y'all is plural. All y'all's is plural possessive."
